With the expected completion of a new wind energy facility in late 2019, the Omaha Public Power District said it will receive about 40% of its generation supply from renewable energy resources.
The Nebraska utility on July 13 announced it had agreed to a 20-year power purchase agreement for the output of the 160-MW Sholes wind facility in Wayne County, Neb., to be developed by a subsidiary of NextEra Energy Resources LLC, part of NextEra Energy Inc.
