Abstract

From the roots of téchne to the decoupling of the relationship between theory and practice Alexandre Koyré, historian of science (1892-1964) and author of the famous Dal mondo del pressappoco all'universo della precisione, points out that the origin of the great Galilean intuition on the cause-effect relationship, on the observation and the experimental verification of scientific hypotheses, was a requirement for theory, as a rational deduction and not an empirical measure.Unlike idealistic ideas, Galilean intuition doesn't empower the prevalence of theory on practice. According to Nardi, in architectural design «a synchronous meeting between technical knowledge and inventive capacity is taking place, since the solution to the problem that the project must answer is the composition of these two aspects. Multiple and complementary acquaintances bring strong emphasis on IT procedures, both in management skills about knowledge (business intelligence, knowledge management and data mining), which can provide an advanced response in the upstream and downstream integration of the project, both in the interface and interoperability of the project and the process among the various actors. The systemic and process approach also induces the assumption of choosing sides on the inseparability between theories and practice in architecture, between theoretical thinking and its concrete outcomes, between the idea and its realization, looking at the implications that the socio-economic, constructive, environmental and managerial aspects determine both in the act of design practice and in its theoretical foundations.
