Whereas Barbara N. Sargent-Baur's first edition of Villon (Franfois Villon: Le Testament et poesies diver.res (New York: Appleton-Century-Crofts, I967) was a practical presentation of Villon's principal work, this new one is comprehensive: all the extant text, a succinct but wide-ranging introduction, a facing translation, notes on difficult passages.
