Finally, Intel Corp. has truly entered the local bus race, as the company introduced last week its Peripheral Component Interconnection (PCI) specification, an alternative to the increasingly popular VL Bus specification.
Although Intel is lagging far behind the VL Bus specification developed by the Video Electronics Standards Association (VESA) and introduced last year, the chip developer expects to use its Pentium processor and Microsoft Corp.'s tacit support to rapidly gain ground.
