switching platform to gain price edge
CABLETRON THIS WEEK will aim for the heart of the workgroup switching market with platforms optimized for Ethernet switching and priced below the vendor's earlier offerings.
With the SmartSwitch 6000 fiveslot chassis and the stand-alone SmartSwitch 2200, Cabletron is extending the Layer 3 routing and management features of its SecureFast switch architecture, which had been available only with products based on its MMAC and MMAC Plus hubs, to lower-priced devices.
