QUALCOMM INC. is getting ready to deliver enhanced filtering, a plugin architecture, and rich-text capabilities to Eudora, in the face of increasing competition from Web browser e-mail clients.
Eudora Pro 3.0 for Windows is now posted to the Qualcomm site for an open beta test for users of Version 2.2 of the product. The commercial version will ship soon, according to Qualcomm officials.
The latest release marks a coming of age for the most popular Internet e-mail client, which began as freeware and was originally named after the author Eudora Welty. Although it hasn't made huge inroads into the corporate market, Qualcomm's Eudora is a serious player in the e-mail space.
