NETSCAPE AND NOVELL Will use this week's Catalyst '98 conference in Colorado Springs, Colo., to reveal directory capabilities that are designed to augment other applications. The conference is hosted by the Burton Group and the Network Applications Consortium.
Netscape will use the conference to promote the capabilities of its Mission Control application, which it claims have not been communicated well to users. In particular, the company will position the application as a meta-directory solution that can be used to control other directories, including Novell Directory Services (NDS) and Microsoft's forthcoming Active Directory.
"We've done a less than excellent job communicating [Mission Control's] capabilities,' said Brian Byun, Netscape group product manager.
