Program expedites storefront setup
WITH THE multitude ot shopping-cart options in the marketplace, entry-level storefront software suites are differentiating themselves by addressing the entire Internet-commerce picture. Case in point is ecBuilder Pro 4.5, from Multiactive Technologies. Once a rudimentary shopping-cart system, this latest release adds transaction processing, marketing, and additional design options to the mix, making it an excellent value for small and midsize businesses that have neither the large product base nor the budget to commit to a higher-priced alternative. Multiactive Technologies' I-commerce application allows small and midsize businesses to conduct business-to-business and business-to-consumer transactions via the Internet, placing ecBuilder Pro alongside competitors such as Miva's Miva Merchant and Actinic Software's Actinic Catalog. (See our Intranets & I-Commerce reviews of Miva Merchant 1.24 and Actinic Catalog 3.0, at www.infoworld.com /printlinks.) Keep in mind, though, that ecBuilder Pro runs only on Windows platforms, which may turn off some sites heavily invested in Linux or other flavors of Unix.
