"I'm happy I was adopted," says Maisha Krugmann. "I'm grateful actually." Maisha was born in Ehthiopia in 1991. Her birth mother left her in a church and she was brought to an orphanage where she was adopted by the time she was three weeks old. "I was one of the lucky ones. I hadn't suffered any malnourishment; I was strong and I was HIV negative," explains Maisha.
Like Elsita, Maisha is part of an international family. Her adoptive mother is from Brazil and her father from Germany. Her older brother was born in Canada. She's grown up in Kenya and South Africa and has spent the past ten years living in Namibia. In her house, they speak Portuguese, German...
