Oman's Muscat Municipality has chosen Microsoft's .NET architecture to build a knowledge management portal as part of the Government of Oman's e-initiative. The project is also part of a strategic agreement signed by the Government of Oman and Microsoft Middle East last year. The portal will offer a centralized access point for finding and managing information, using a browser. Users will be able to collaborate effectively online without having to switch from one application to another. The portal allows users to browse through information by categories, search for information, subscribe to new or changing information, find information in lines of business applications, check documents, review a document's version history, approve documents for publication and publish documents. Muscat Municipality's IT infrastructure is based on the Microsoft.NET platform, a set of Microsoft software technologies that seamlessly connects information, people, systems and devices.Microsoft opened its Dubai-based Middle East office in 1991, headquartered at Dubai Internet City and is responsible for all aspects of the company's business in the region, covering the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Bahrain Yemen, Lebanon, Jordan, Cyprus, Malta, Egypt and Pakistan. - (menareport.com)
