SHELTER DEVELOP]VfENT PROJECT. The Government of St Lucia Shelter Development Project was launched in 2001 as part of the thrust to improve the shelter conditions of low-income households. The project, which is being co-financed by Government and the Caribbean Development Bank, provides funding for: Development of sites and services; Provision of core starter units; Upgrading of unplanned (i.e. squatter) settlements; Tenure regularization in unplanned settlements; Provision of housing credit to facilitate home improvements. Resources have been provided to procure the services of two consultants to provide technical assistance to the implementing units. Deadline to prequalify: Oct. 31,2002.
