Nextel Communications Inc. and Cellport Systems Inc. are teaming up to deliver a hands-free, in-vehicle solution to Nextel's more than 7 million wireless subscribers.
Cellport, which recently inked a $48 million deal to install voice-activated, hands-free systems in Ford vehicles, this week will unveil an adapter for its hands-free system designed specifically for Nextel phones.
The deal marks the first carrier agreement for Cellport, a Boulder, Colo.-based startup whose investors include AT&T Wireless and Cisco Systems Inc.
