US$200 MILLION PGA VILLAGE. The PGA of America and Cat Island Partners Ltd. broke ground on Cat Island on April 24 for the first PGA Village to be developed outside of the United States:
The project is expected to create 200 construction jobs and more then 900 permanent positions, said David Southworth, President/CEO of Southworth Development. The village, on 1 ,906 acres, including two miles of beachfront, will feature a Rees Jones-designed golf course, PGA branded Golf Cottages, a Golf Clubhouse, a PGA Learning and Performance Center, PGA Historical Center and the first phase of the village;
Construction, expected to take 24-36 months, will include single-family home sites averaging over an acre each; village town homes; PGA-branded golf cottages; a Casino; Tennis Center, Beach Club with swimming pools, cafe and cabanas.
