Abstract

Traditionally, faculty development efforts have matched the training method with the teaching method, that is, campus based instructors attend face-to-face training, and online instructors generally receive online training. The purpose of this study was to determine if participation in a fully online workshop increased and improved the use of available technology to increase faculty knowledge and skill in implementing technology and change pedagogical practices in campus based courses. The research determined (a) the extent that faculty use technology in the classroom, (b) the extent that faculty provide additional technological resources to encourage learning outside of the classroom, (c) the relationship between training and integration of technology into classroom teaching, (d) the relationship between the training and attitudes toward technology, (e) faculty perceptions of their own pedagogical practices in the classroom, and (f) faculty perceptions of their skill level and use of instructional technology in classroom based courses.
