Abstract

As indicated in the title of the play, the dramatic space of Marivaux's Les Fausses Confidences is discursive in form. Whether master or servant, valet or soubrette, everyone confides in everyone else, but the secrets always pertain to a third party, which clearly gives confidential space a triangular structure. And it is precisely in this structure, both triangular and tri-dimensional, that we would like to examine the formal perfection of Les Fausses Confidences.
