Abstract

In this article I will (a) provide a brief overview of Havighurst's developmental theory, especially developmental tasks facing six- to twelve-year-olds and twelve- to eighteen-year-olds, (b) propose developmental tasks specifically for ten- to fifteen-year-olds in increasingly diverse schools and society, and (c) suggest directions for middle school educators.
