IN HIS 2013 BOOK TEACHING TYPE TO TALK, THE designer Alan Peckolick wrote, "Good type serves as both the message and the aesthetic... As a designer, not only do I make type talk, but I give it a mood-and sometimes a temper." Peckolick, who died in August at the age of 76, was a man who loved letters and who knew how to make them sing.
