Combined Tactical Systems (CTS) introduced its Model 7200 Flash-Bang Training System at the 2001 IACP. The system is made up of a Model 7290T reusable steel and aluminum body and a M201FB replacement training fuze. The Training Flash-Bang produces a bang of 120dB and a flash of well under one million candela. In comparison, the CTS Model 7290 Tactical Flash-Bang produces 175dB and six to eight million candela.
The Training Flash-Bang was developed at the request of the Department of Energy (DOE). Officers protecting DOE installations train so frequently that repeated exposure to 175dB became an OSHA issue. The solution was to develop a flash-bang with a decibel level that would permit repeated exposure. This noise level was determined to be 120 dB- a bang loud enough to be heard by tactical team members during force-on-force training but not too loud for repeated exposure.
