Adding to the mix of blockbuster feature hits and holiday fare, a large number of music's hitmakers are dancing to sellthrough video this fall.
The plethora of offerings is a big plus, according to Borders Books and Music buyer Robert Smith. Cross-promoting videos and their CD companions is a sales formula that works well, he says.
"It's like magic," he says.
Among the titles available this fall are several hit offerings from BMG Music.
Available now is Sarah McLachlan's Mirrorball, which features footage from her successful Surfacing tour. The title retails at $19.98 on VHS and $24.98 on DVD.The DVD contains lyrics, multiple angle choices and a scrapbook section with photos.
Other upcoming $24.98 BMG DVD titles, due Nov. 23, include Blondie: VHI-Live From Town Hall, Meatloaf: VHI Storytellers and Motley Crue: 1983-1999 The Video Collection, which includes a never-before-seen video for "Enslaved."
