MOUNT LAUREL, N.J. - An Internet communications and telecom company has acquired a local software company to enhance its development of "next generation" networks.
Hillsboro, Ore.-based RadiSys Corp. last week bought S-Link Corp. for $4.5 million in cash. The deal will enhance RadiSys' technology for signaling applications that integrate next-generation voice and data networks. Such technology not only has implications for today's phone-service providers, but for cable companies that could attempt forays into phone service within the next few years.
"They do some things similar to technologies that we're working on," said Stewart Cohen, vice president of marketing for RadiSys.
