Credit Suisse First Boston has made its first significant hires for its fledgling global foreign exchange business in New York, as it prepares to realign its operations worldwide, officials said.
Starting Sept. 1, Philip Vasan and Craig Puffenburger, formerly of Citibank, will join CSFB in New York, Vasan, who spent six years at Citi and rose to become head of the bank's foreign exchange and metals options group, will run the currency options desk and risk management on a worldwide basis.
Puffenburger, a senior forex options trader at Citi for the past five years, will be Vasan's deputy. Both will report to Mark Hotimsky, the London-based managing director who joined CSFB in April from Bankers Trust International as head of the firm's global forex operations.
With these additions, plus a number of other recent hires and more expected, the bank is preparing to realign its global operations, according to Hotimsky....
