The American Public Health Association welcomes Susan Polan, PhD, MS as the Association's new associate executive director for public affairs and advocacy. Polan was the previous director of government relations at the Trust for America's Health, has worked on federal affairs at the American Cancer Society, and served as president of the Partnership for Prevention.

APHA welcomed Susan Polan, PhD, MS, in January as the Association's new associate executive director for public affairs and advocacy.
In the newly expanded position, Polan oversees APHA's Government Relations, Affiliate Affairs and Communications departments as well as the Membership Department. In her position, Polan will plan and direct APHA's legislative, regulatory and legal activities. She will also work on membership retention and recruitment, develop Association position statements and coordinate membership advocacy.
Polan previously served as director of government relations at the Trust for America's Health. She has also worked on federal affairs at the American Cancer Society and served as president of the Partnership for Prevention.
