DOWNTOWN - The historic Downtown building that houses the doomed Lord & Taylor department store could soon have a new owner.
Real estate sources have told the Business Times that Aaron Stauber, the New Jersey-based real estate investor whose company, Rugby Realty Co. Inc., owns a number of Downtown properties, is pursuing the purchase of the building.
Mr. Stauber, Rugby's managing director, said he is interested in the building. But when asked if he is in the process of buying it, Mr. Stauber said, "No comment."
Lord & Taylor's parent company, St. Louis-based May Department Stores Co., announced in August 2003 that it planned to close the Downtown Pittsburgh store because it failed to meet sales expectations. The company has not announced a date for the closing, and Lord & Taylor is committed to...
