* The place: Six Flags Worlds of Adventure, the union of the former Geauga Lake and Sea World of Ohio theme parks.
* The location: 1060 N. Aurora Road, Aurora. The park straddles the line between the city of Aurora in Portage County and Bainbridge Township in Geauga County.
* The Past: The Six Flags site has been home to theme parks since 1888, when Geauga Lake was founded. The 518-acre park had traditional amusement park rides and eventually added a water park. Sea World of Ohio, a 232-acre marine-themed park, was built nearby in 1970.
Premier Parks Inc. in 1995 purchased Geauga Lake from Fun Time Inc. The park was rebranded as Six Flags Ohio in 2000 at the same time Premier renamed itself Six Flags Inc.
Between 1995 and 2000, Six Flags Inc., based in New York and Oklahoma City, spent more than $40 million to transform the park, one of its 39 parks worldwide. During the 2000 and 2001 seasons, five of the park's 10 roller coasters were added, and more changes are in the works.
