Hyland makes a game out of emphasizing goals

Sometimes work really can be fun and games.

For a couple of days earlier this month, that's what it was for some 140 employees of Hyland Software Inc. of Rocky River.

"Every year, we get our employees together, and we talk about our goals and direction for the next year," said Packy Hyland Jr., chief executive officer of the firm, which specializes in integrated document management software called OnBase.

This year, Mr. Hyland enlisted the services of Edgeworth Inc. of Pittsburgh, which designed a board game based on the company's business model, growth ob jectives and success criteria.
