The Naval Diving and Salvage Training Center (NDSTC) in Panama City Beach, Florida, is the latest step in a long history of U. S. Navy diving training. The Navy, since the turn of the century, has used several sites for deep-sea diver training. The center, opened in 1980, was designed from the ground up to be the cornerstone of U.S. Navy diving training. At this location diving students, selected officers, civilian DOD enlisted personnel, and allied foreign nationals-from the Navy, Marine, Air Force, Army, and allied foreign countries-are trained with an expanded curriculum in all phases of diving, ship salvage, and submarine rescue operations.
The center-located on St. Andrew Bay's Alligator Bayou-encompasses 150,000 square feet and is capable of training more than 300 students at one time.
