New Offering Takes Advantage of Windows CE Platform
Hypercom Corp. (HYC) April 25 took the wraps off its new ICE 4000CE, a wireless, Internet-enabled point-of-sale payment terminal using the Microsoft Windows CE operating system for merchants and service providers, including car rental companies, stadiums, medical facilities and restaurants that want to bring the payment system directly to the consumer.
Pricing is not yet available for the device, which is scheduled to ship at beginning of June.
The company believes that the graphical interface and open development platform of Windows CE will generate a wide range of new applications because it will be able to take advantage of custom and third party applications.
Striving For An Open Platform
"From our point of view, we've basically developed a wireless device that has now a true open platform, and that platform is the CE Windows," says Jairo Gonzalez, senior executive officer, Emerging Business and Global Markets, Hypercom Corp.
