Royal Dutch Shell is looking to extend its profile in Asian LNG by expanding the capacity of its Hazira receiving terminal in India and boosting term sales to planned new LNG terminals in China.
Shell also expects to conclude term LNG supply deals for its 2.5 million ton per year Hazira terminal by the end of this year, after which it plans to add another 2 million tons/yr of capacity there, Shell Gas and Power Executive Vice President for Global Business Peter de Wit said Tuesday,
"Shell is in discussions with suppliers on term contracts and customers [for the LNG] and we expect to conclude agreements by the end of this year. It would be nice to have some term contracts and, at that point of time, we would start to seriously look into [expanding the terminal]," de Wit said on the sidelines of the Asian Oil and Gas Conference in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.
