Lori Calderon believes her life experiences have brought her to this point: At the age of 40, she is in charge of the hiring process for one of the biggest endeavors the Las Vegas Valley has ever seen, MGM Mirage's Project CityCenter. If that weren't enough, the project's director of employment is still in charge of staffing ab Bellagio and several sister properties. And she's done itall without a college degree. The 16-year Las Vegas resident was born and raised in St. Louis. She attended Northeasat Missouri State to earn a degree in communications. She hoped to go into advertising. As a student, though, she made a lifealtering choice when she was 20 years old: She took guardianship of her then-15-year-old brother. That decision forced Calderon to leave school.
Raising her younger sibling wasn't a new experience for the future executive. Calderon had taken care of her little brother from an early age...
