LET’S face it, we all know how to talk. Some people are on perpetual broadcast, downloading every thought, experience or bat of an eye with the world as their audience.

Last Thursday was officially Time To Talk Day
If only there were an off button we could press.
If I asked you if you were a good listener most of you would nod an affirmative but how many of us truly bother to hear and “get” what people are saying?
It is one thing to be a sounding board and just being there without being present.
Nodding and harrumphing “yes” without engaging is the modus operandi some men employ to have a “quiet life”.
Others may appear to be listening but it is just being polite while mentally counting down the minutes when they can hightail it for the exit.

The art of listening and really hearing is an act of love.
It takes commitment, an ability to read between the lines and a desire to understand and appreciate the person talking.
