Delirium is a set of 46-plus plug-ins made for Adobe's After Effects or After Effects-compatible applications such as Apple's Final Cut Pro, Puf fm's Commotion, Videonics' Effetto/Pronto, et al. After Effects animators will be familiar with DigiEffects fi-om their previous offerings of CineLookthe video-to-film-look simulator-and the Aurorix, Berserk, and Cyclonist filter sets. Delirium has been in development for nearly two years.
From all evidence, the chief aim of DigiEffects with this product is to produce a professional set of tools within After Effects to create specific visual effects with ease and speed, as opposed to other plug-in makers that have offered generalpurpose tools that are at times awkward, misunderstood, and/or time consuming. With this theme in mind, the Delirium manual seemed informative with a straightforward "cut-to-the-chase" style that I found cool and refreshing.
Most tools here are based on strong, proprietary particle systems and many are made to AUTOANIMATE without necessarily having to set keyframes. Personally, I don't know a feature more likely to put a grin on any animator facing a deadline. The capacity of many of the particle-type filters here to actually interact with objects in a given scene is also a cutting-edge feature overlooked by some plugin makers. The majority of plug-ins have factory made presets that are a recommended first port of call. After modification, these presets can be saved into user libraries and modified in turn. Another item of interest is the 3D package set of filters within Delirium, brought in from a company known as Cognicon and included here. While not to be confused with a full-on 3D package, the Tilt set is designed to incorporate and use 3D space and files without having to leave After Effects.
