In what is seen as the largest coral protection effort in the region, Continental Shelf Associates (CSA), based in Jupiter, Florida, successfully moved some 4,500 coral colonies from future gas pipeline corridors for Qatargas.
The coral was located in areas that would have been affected by Qatargas projects.
Qatargas conducted an Environmental and Socio-Economie Impact Assessment (ESIA) in 2004 that was aimed at assessing and minimizing impacts to both marine and terrestrial environments, air, topography, soils and vegetation cover.
