Abstract

The GOP is only one seat away from a majority in the next Senate, so its best strategy to regain control is to hope for the very worst Specifically, one of the 17 Democratic senators who hail from a state with a GOP governor needs to answer a last roll call Up Yonder and be replaced by a Republican appointee. The Treasury Department's press office got squirrelly about a recent news item advertising its annual holiday reception for the media, and the Capital Club, a fraternity for the Washington crowd that boasts 100 well-connected Hill staffers, lobbyists, and administration officials, wouldn't spill the goods on its annual Santa Soiree, held on December 2 ... The exam asks applicants to name two Cabinet-level positions, but the only acceptable answers are the Cabinet secretaries, ignoring the six other positions-including the Office of Management and Budget director and the U.S. Trade Representative-that are considered Cabinet-level.
