In an effort to increase its appeal to Hispanics, UniStar Federal Credit Union has staffed its new branch in Port Chester entirely with Spanish-speaking employees.
The credit union, which opened the branch last week, has been attracting more and more Hispanics, including many from Port Chester, said Edward Rodgers, president and chief executive officer of UniStar, based in Tarrytown.
"They come all the way over from Tarrytown to do their banking," Rodgers said, adding that many Hispanic immigrants began banking with UniStar when they found it had Spanish-speaking tellers and loan officers.
UniStar has employees from different Latin American countries, said Debbie Lindsay, UniStar's vice president of marketing and community relations.
