Emigrant Bank plans to split into four

Emigrant Savings Bank, which has three branches in Westchester, has asked the state Banking Department for permission to break up into four banks, although the banks parent company would retain control of' them.

In an application filed April 14 with the department, the bank proposed that it be, split tip into four separate savings banks, each having a name beginning with "Emigrant Savings Bank" but followed by the name of the area it would serve.
