Thirteen retail properties in Westchester and Connecticut, including Cross County Square in Yonkers and Stratford Square in Fairfield County, are now publicly owned and traded on he New York Stock Exchange.
The properties, formerly owned by Rosenshein Development of New Rochelle, are part of a real estate investment trust that went public in November.
Putting the properties in a REIT has helped Bernard Rosenshein, a 35-year real estate veteran, to begin anew, free of millions of dollars in mortgage debt that had accured on his shopping centers.
"It's like starting over," said Rosenshein. "I am debt-free, and not many developers can say that."
