The pace of change in the insurance industry is increasing, with large companies taking over smaller ones and merging with other giants. It sometimes seems as though the era of the small, customer-friendly insurance company is over.
The Rollins Agency, which has offices in Tuckahoe and Katonah, has been a family business since 1910. Far from staid, it is currently in a wave of reorganization and expansion that will lead it into the new millennium.
The company, which has a total premium volume in excess of $40 million, recently announced that Markham F. Rollins Jr. would retire as president after 32 years at the helm, and his two sons, representing the fourth generation to lead the company, would take over its management.
Markham F. Rollins III will serve as chief executive officer and chairman of the board and will direct the Commercial Insurance Group, which focuses on international, technology, executive and medical risk and other select business.
