Morgan Stanley Dean Witter & Co. is among several companies that have placed bids to buy the former Texaco Inc. headquarters in White Plains, But some real estate brokers say the investment bank is now leaning toward leasing space at a former International Business Machines Corp. site in Mount Pleasant.
John McCarthy, principal at McCarthy O'Callaghan Company Inc. in White Plains, who represents Morgan Stanley, declined to comment on whether the banker has given up the idea of purchasing the 580,000square-foot Texaco building.
He said Reuters news agency was looking to rent space in the 380,000-square-foot Mount Pleasant property which was bought by Gale & Wentworth from IBM three years ago, with financing from Morgan Stanley
