A year ago Cindy Jordan had hardly heard of San Angelo, Texas. In just a few short months she's made several friends, performs music about once a week, has her own radio show and is starting up a new Toastmasters Club. When asked what brought her to the West Texas town she says, "oil, that is-black gold, Texas tea." When asked how she likes her new home Cindy says with great excitement, "I love San Angelo! It's magical! After all it's the only place in the world that produces a pink pearl."
Cindy says, "I believe that music is the solution to all of the problems of mankind." Songwriter and composer Cindy Jordan is dedicated to her vision of bringing awareness to the power of music and she is right on track.
In 1983, every country radio station and honky-tonk was playing, "Jose Cuervo, you are a friend of mine." This is the first song this California surfer girl ever wrote! The song "Jose Cuervo" went on to be the 1983 Country Music Song of the Year in Billboard Magazine. That same year sales for Jose Cuervo tequila went up by the millions. "That's the power of music," Cindy says.
She realizes it was the spirit of the song that made it a hit. "Kids and people I know who never even have had a drink tell me that they love my song! After all this time I believe it is because it has a happy feel and it expresses the concept of freedom. How many times do we forget to enjoy life because we are held back or feel we don't deserve it? The song 'Jose Cuervo' kind of breaks through those barriers and makes people smile. I have heard some great stories of how the song has affected people's lives."
When Cindy was 3 years old Santa brought her a little red piano and she fell in love with making music. She studied classical music and theory with composer/ concert pianist Nino Albanese. She began teaching piano herself at age 17. Cindy taught herself to play guitar at 12 by buying a book of guitar chords.
Music was in her family. Her greatgrandfather Alberto Sous was a talent scout for Irving Berlin....
