Abstract

After two years of sluggish software sales, catalog companies are investing in new systems. Luckily for them, during the past two years software vendors did not stop investing in and improving their own products. Research shows that more than 50% of catalogers develop their own systems, but in many cases commercial systems offer a less expensive option for the business owner. Vendors providing full-function call center, fulfillment, marketing, merchandising, and e-commerce-interfaced systems for catalog and Internet-based retailing include: 1. Assist Cornerstone, 2. Avexxis, 3. Commercialware, 4. Computer Solutions Inc. (CSI), 5. Datamann, 6. Dydacomp, 7. Ecometry, 8. Morse Data, 9. Natural Solutions, and 10. Newhaven Software. NewHaven has been developing a system that is more robust than the predecessor Wizard system. The company's new Commerce Management System uses Windows, Sybase, and SQL platforms. Typical customers have 15-25 terminal configurations.
