Almost alone among current handheld PC makers, Hewlett-- Packard dares to think small: The Jornada 680 squeezes Microsoft's Pocket Office suite, a half-VGA (640 by 240-pixel) color screen, and 56Kbps modem into a 1.1 -- pound palmtop about the size of an eyeglass case that slips neatly into a coat pocket or handbag (though its AC adapter is too big to slip neatly anywhere).
