WHAT'S HOT: Voodoo's latest system comes in an elegant, shiny black case reminiscent of Chinese lacquered boxes. The custom paint job also carries over to the monitor, keyboard, and speakers. But this Egad offers more than just good looks.
A lustrous black, 22-inch flat-screen NEC MultiSync FE2111SB monitor provides ample area for playing games and watching DVD movies in wide-screen format. In our image tests, colors in an on- screen photo were vibrant without being oversaturated; text looked crisp and sharp. A dedicated control lets you crank up the brightness at three different levels, good for quickly sprucing up otherwise dark scenes in game play.
Frame rates went through the roof in our graphics tests. With help from an ATI Radeon 9700 Pro graphics card, at 1280 by 1024 resolution and 32-bit color depth, the system churned out 159 frames per second in Unreal Tournament 2003 and 108 frames per second in Return to Castle Wolfenstein--the highest numbers we have seen.
