The Foundation for Physical Therapy is pleased to announce that the first Paris-Patla Musculoskeletal Grant will be offered starting in 2018. The grant funds are to be used for awards that aim to study the musculoskeletal system and manual therapy. The new funding mechanism approved by the Foundation's Board of Trustees will award $120,000 per year for 2 years with a possible third year of funding via a competitive renewal, providing funding of up to $360,000 over a 3-year period.
The grant is made possible by a generous $1 million contribution received in 2014. Foundation Trustee Stanley Paris, PT, PhD, and his wife Catherine Patla, PT, DHSc, MS, donated $500,000 and Laureate Education Inc supported them by matching their $500,000 gift. Paris is a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association and, as is Patla, a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapists. Patla is a board-certified orthopaedic clinical specialist and certified in manual therapy.
