GENERALE OCCIDENTALE TAKES STAKE IN EURONEWS

Effective at the end of May, Generale Occidentale (GO) will become a 34 percent shareholder in SOCEMIE, the operating company of the multilingual news channel Euronews. At the same time, GO will acquire an additional 15 percent of SOCEMIE for distribution to other private partners, leaving SECEMIE, the editorial and holding company of SOCEMIE, with a 51 percent share. SECEMIE is composed of 17 public service television channels hich are members of the European Broadcasting Union, including France Television, RAI (Italy), RTVE (Spain) and SSR (Switzerland).
