Abstract
In order to study the genre specifications of TV cartoon animations that were broadcast in Korea from 1967 to 1986, this research classifies them into genres focusing on themes, subject matter, backgrounds, characters, and overall plots. These are classified into the four major categories of Science Fiction (SF) and & Action, Fantasy & Adventure, Drama, and Others, and then further divided into nine subcategories. In SF & Action, subjects are engaged in problem solving and accomplishing things through objective or subjective actions that transcend the boundary between the Earth and the universe. In Fantasy & Adventure, the characters overcome impossible and dangerous situations using their skills that stem from surreal phenomena and a desire for the unknown world. In Drama, the characters develop intimacy with viewers as they overcome difficulties and achieve love and other missions centering on narratives. On the basis of these analyses, the study looks into the audiences of each genre, contents and spatial background, and the main original media to set the criteriajl] for classifying these genres and extracting the features of each one.

Based on this, the detailed features of theme songs, characters, and clichés for each genre can be studied.
