The market for heavy business jets over the last decade, ever since the heyday of the business jet, has been varied.
Initially the large business jets seemed able to avoid the virtual collapse that other business jet categories suffered in the aftermath of the financial crisis. Then as some the BRIC economies faltered the manufacturers discounted the price of new aircraft to maintain production as well as introducing new models. The prices of heavy business jets suffered in 2015 and 2016. Only in 2017 with more discipline from the manufacturers has the market been able to register some stability.

Between 2012 and 2016 prices of the Global 5000 fell by some 50 percent. More recently the rate of decline has been much less notable with prices falling by perhaps only ten percent over the last 12 months. The last quarter has seen a modest fall. The Global 5000 offers much longer range than the 850 and this initially proved proving attractive to non-US buyers. The aircraft combines the fuselage of the CRJ200 and a different wing. An extended range version is also available. There are approximately 200 in service.

The G6000 prices have fallen again showing a significant fall in the last few months after registering a measure of stability earlier in the year. the aircraft is of an age that is prompting existing owners to consider trading in existing aircraft. Some owners prefer to hold onto aircraft while others trade up in five years or less. The type came onto the market in 2012 and offers longer range than the 5000. The original price in 2012 was approximately $61 million. With the development of the 7000 and 8000 production of the 5000 and 6000 has been reduced.
