Around the nation, several major cities are considering funding programs to construct Wi-Fi wireless broadband networks for Internet access. Lincoln, Neb., for one, has installed a fast wireless data network to connect geographically dispersed municipal offices to the city's fiber backbone and provide a redundant link for existing wired networks supporting the city's service organizations.
Healthcare, waste management and city administration services in Lincoln have improved communication between offices with the wireless network, contends Carl Garaffa, CEO of AxtellTech Wholesale, which installed the system provided by BelAir Networks.
"Lincoln intends to expand the network even further, so quality, longevity and scalability were key factors in determining which wireless solution we deployed in this first phase," offers Garaffa. "BelAir's carrier-grade system and modular design will help Lincoln address short-term unanticipated events, such as a spike in demand or integration with new technologies, while planning for future network expansion."
