Kyle Chapman fulfills an interest he's had since high school
ecoming a barber is no walk in the park. For Kyle Chapman, it involved a five-month, full-time, 600-hour course through Shear Ego International School of Hair Design.
Chapman, 31, graduated from the barber program in spring 2016. After browsing different local barbershops and failing to find a place that aligned with the style and brand he was aiming for, he opened his own shop, KC's Fairport Barbershop & Mercantile located at 1000 Turk Hill Road, in June 2017.
Being a business owner is undoubtedly a full-time job, especially when the business is young. Chapman, however, has a nine-to-five job on top of the barbershop.
"I've spent the last 10 years or so in marketing and advertising," says Chapman. "Currently I'm working remotely during the day for a marketing agency in Boulder, Colorado. They're a senior living marketing agency, and I've been working there for about a year and a half."
Chapman graduated from the College at Brockport in 2010 where he received a bachelor's degree in business administration with a concentration in marketing. He has always had many irons in the fire; Chapman owned a record label for about 10 years, releasing records on vinyl, digital and CD....
