Abstract

Oak Ridge, Tennessee-based Interactive Pictures Corp. is reinventing photography with the development of a digital photograph, presented in an "immersive" format of 360 degrees by 360 degrees, that is viewed on a computer screen. Viewers can step inside the 3-D picture, called an Ipix image, and navigate a complete field of view - from earth to sky, from floor to ceiling, following the entire horizon - with a computer mouse. The 2 primary components of Interactive Pictures' patented solution are a fisheye lens and the Ipix Builder/Wizard software.
