A positive legacy of the 1974-1977 Ford Administration was the civility that returned to the White House after Richard Nixon's Watergate-infested "Enemies List" that included then-CBS correspondent Daniel Schorr (now at NPR) and the late columnists Mary McGrory/Jack Anderson. It came back to light last November 25, when Ford wrote in The Washington Post that he had asked 1966-1996 Life/Time Washington bureau chief Sidey to deliver a eulogy "when the time came" for his funeral. When it was Sidey who passed away first (from a heart attack on November 21), the roles reversed. Wrote Ford:
